A typical beginner's group meditation meeting would follow this format below:
Information (by presenter) :
In general, children are carefree and playful for a certain period of time after they are born. They daydream, reflect, engage with their physical world, develop friendships, dance, sing and laugh.
Poor education in the school systems, social pressures and dysfunctional family experiences affect the child's ability to maintain this way of life indefinitely. The child grows up and forgets or loses the ability to be happy and at peace.
Resentment and resistance are pretty common reactions to this ongoing, unnatural way of life. These reactions are deep rooted and carefully hidden in order to survive in an irrational world, year after year.
Forgiveness of all injustice towards all people is the secret to returning to a peaceful state of being. There is no benefit gained from holding on to hard feelings against anyone.
Increased awareness is a crucial first step, meditation is a tool to help us find the way back to harmonious living.
Discussion: ( group)
A responsive discussion follows which normally includes personal experiences and insights that pertain to the lesson.
Meditation practice:
Practical information about techniques of meditation exercise communicated to group ( by meditation guide). This prepares each person for a ten minute guided meditation exercise.
Meditation
exercise is followed by time for sharing each person's experience with
the brief meditation activity. Feedback and comments provided for
encouragement and support by leader.
